Amazon vs Tesco: A comparison of two different ecommerce approaches

Posted by Thomas Andersson on

I thought to myself that I wanted to order from a UK company this Christmas. But, oh what a disappointment. There is obviously a reason Amazon is a $100bn+ business and UK brands such as Tesco are struggling. Compare these web front pages and let us know your thoughts.

It is of course highly likely that Amazon has more of my data since I have bought from them in the past and tend to use the same computer.

Look at the empty real estate on Tesco's page. Note that I have scaled the sites to the edge of the browser to get a fair comparison.

I also looked at Argos, but this was an even worse experience. Amazon does not only lead in design, but its performance is way beyond that of Tesco or Argos.
