The Japanese clothing giant, Fast Retailing Co Ltd, incorporated Fast Retailing UK Ltd in the UK in 2000 and opened its first Uniqlo shop in 2001. By 2002 the company was trading from 21 stores across the country. On Sep 6th Fast Retailing UK Ltd went into voluntary liquidation. What went wrong?

Uniqlo (UK) Ltd was set up in 2003. In the end of 2015 the company traded from some 10 London based outlets. Between 2011 and 2014 the company did not run a single year profitably.
